We had a fantastic Fall Conference hosted
by the Junior League of Ft. Myers. Women from thirteen (13) Junior Leagues discussed the ideas submitted by all Leagues and
selected three (3) legislative priorities for the 2012 Legislative Session.
The
2012 SPAC Legislative Priorities in no particular order are:
·
Aging Out of Foster Care Reform
·
Human Trafficking (including SB 202 by Sen. Flores and SB 80 by Sen. Joyner)
·
Family Homeless and Hunger including the eradication of 'food deserts'
We
need all Junior Leagues across the state to ratify these issues by December 15, 2011 and forward all responses to jlflspac@gmail.com. SPAC will be working diligently to provide research, keep you abreast
on the legislative progress of our issues, and create marketing materials for you to bring to your legislators. Please let
us know if you were unable to attend the conference and have expertise in any of the issues.
Nominations
for 2012-2013 Board members are also due on December 15, 2011. The Board Interest Form can be found on the Board Position
Descriptions page.
Finally, we will be hosting our Winter Conference in Tallahassee January
17-18, 2012. We recommend that you make your hotel reservations as soon as possible as we expect area hotels to book fast
during session.

We encourage all of
you to advocate on all issues that improve the lives of children and families across the state. We also want Leagues to use
your community projects and initiatives to make our lawmakers aware of our community needs. The more visible we are, the more
of an impact we will make.
Please do not hesitate to let us know if you have any questions.
